Designing a luxurious rooftop garden for a penthouse atop the iconic Zaha Hadid building at the Highline was an exciting challenge. Danny crafted a space filled with custom elements inspired by curvilinear forms.
Custom carved treads with embedded lighting lead from an elevated plunge pool to a sauna, clad in wood that mimics alligator skin. The sauna mirror reflects the sky, enhancing the pool's elemental shape.
All features—tables, pavers, steps, and the pool—are carved from jet-mist granite, showcasing varied textures for a cohesive look. The sofa, barbecue island, and canopy are made from thermoformed Corian, allowing for a unique design vision. The canopy's thousands of undulating perforations resemble clouds in sunlight and glow beautifully at night, creating a stunning sculptural effect.
