The challenge was to capture the essence of Argentina in the multicultural landscape of Dubai, integrating a restaurant, bar, Tango school, and theatre into one vibrant space. Inspired by the lively streets of Argentina, IAIA aimed to recreate the atmosphere of local bars where people dance and enjoy live performances
Located in Dubai’s International Financial District (DIFC) Gate Avenue Mall, La Casa del Tango seamlessly connects the mall's interior with its outdoor terrace. The design pays homage to Argentinian craftsmanship through delicate details like leather stitching and unique furniture.
The bar, a central feature, boasts a brushed brass finish that wraps around the walls and ceiling in a striking waffle pattern. Various lighting elements, from street lanterns to chandeliers, create an intimate ambiance that enhances the mood of Tango while allowing flexibility for dining and performances.
Additionally, embossed wallpaper on sliding panels serves as a flexible divider between the stage and dining area, enabling private classes without disrupting the restaurant's flow. Two large interactive screens on the mall's side invite pedestrians to engage with tango dance patterns, adding an inviting touch to the façade.
